The Mulbarton Muslim Association was established in 2014 by the muslim brothers of the Mulbarton, Glenvista and Aspen Hills areas. The vision of the association is to promote religious, social, cultural, spiritual, and educational advancement of the Muslim community and to propagate and uphold Islam. At the time of establishing the Association the local muslim community did not have a resident Imaam or Muazzin. The call of Adhaan was not audible to the local muslim community. With the excepion of Jummah salaah the 5 daily salaahs were performed by the local brothers in the Mulbarton Musalla based in the Mulbarton shopping centre, True North Road, Mulbarton. This Musalla premises forms part of the Mulbarton shopping centre which is owned by a muslim family, however it is partly managed and maintained by the Mulbarton Muslim Association.
In 2014, the Mulbarton Muslim Association appointed an Imaam and a Muazzin. This now afforded the community the ability to perform Jummah salaah in the Musalla. A radio transmitter system to broadcast the Adhaan was also installed and affords the local muslim community the opportunity of listening to the 5 daily Adhaans in their homes. Our local Imaam has also begun a Makhtab and currently has approximately 20 learners under his wing. Hifz classes are also conducted after the Fajr salaah on a daily basis by a Hafez from the Mulbarton community.
